Powerful stuff - (May 4, 2011)

John has been through the trenches and still has a sense of humor about it. He's angry, he's sad, he's smart - and he's an inspiration. I enjoyed his "Brain Freeze" and found more to like with each viewing. Smart stuff said from the heart. Great show.

Being a rehab professional it was impossible not to laugh at the very therapeutic processes we so profess. "Brain Freeze" provides the internal thinking and powerful struggle of Mr Kawie's goal to regain his independence after suffering a stroke. He takes us on his journey of dealing with the harsh reality of having a stroke. It is impossible not to feel the rawness of his emotions and not... (read more)

After suffering a devastating stroke John Kawie still finds humor in all he has to deal with. From rehab to group therapy - I loved it. I found myself laughing and crying. John's an angry guy, he's a sad guy, but he's an accepting guy. As a survivor myself I found his message universal - that we are all valid. It's a really cool show.
