I'd say it's certainly worth a listen, and the Naxos pricing is low enough that it's fairly low risk.

Based purely on the small sound bites I would not purchase this CD. It sounds too heavy, similar & melodramatic for me - however, I would prefer luke-warm milk spilled on my leg than to have a venemous bite - I feel the last review is more mean than it is a critique - even Don Rickles is kinder!

Lukewarm milk spilled on your leg.
Dull, pompous and almost makes me cry when I think of the actual talent out there and this miasmic tripe is being recorded?!?
1/10. Maybe if you like Wagner on too much Valium, otherwise get yourself something useful like a foam hand that says #1 on it.
